Turn boring AI writing into something people want to read
This is the humanize skill from my reel. It cuts what gives AI away, rewrites the rest with some life in it, and makes it sound like you. Copy one line, send it to your AI, and it loads the skill from GitHub.
Read https://raw.githubusercontent.com/allenanant/humanize/main/SKILL.md and follow it as your humanize skill. If you can install skills, install it. Then ask me for the text to humanize.
Works in Claude, Claude Code and Codex. The skill is free and public on GitHub. If your AI says it cannot open links, open SKILL.md, copy all of it and paste that in instead.
How to use it
- 1
Copy the line
Use the Copy button above.
- 2
Send it to your AI
Claude, Claude Code or Codex. It reads the skill from GitHub and says it is ready. Claude Code and Codex can also install it as a skill, so it stays for every new session.
- 3
Say "humanize this" and paste your text
You get the new version first, then a short list of what it changed.
What it does
1. Cuts what screams AI
The fake deep lines, the "it's not this, it's that", a dash in every sentence, words like "delve". Built on the guide Wikipedia's editors use to spot AI writing.
2. Fixes the shape
Drops the life lesson glued on at the end, says feelings plainly and keeps the loose ends real stories have. Based on StoryScope, a 2026 study of 61,608 stories by people and AI.
3. Gives it some life
Opens on a real moment instead of a summary, swaps slogans for pictures and mixes short lines with long ones. If your text has nothing real in it, it asks you for one true detail instead of making one up.
4. Makes it sound like you
Comes with a starter set of voice rules: no em dashes, no filler openers, short sentences. Change them to your own.
It leaves code, quotes from real people and legal text alone. It never tells you a text is now human. It tells you what it changed, so you can check its work.
Keep it for good
Install it once and type /humanize in any new session.
git clone https://github.com/allenanant/humanize ~/.claude/skills/humanize
git clone https://github.com/allenanant/humanize ~/.codex/skills/humanize
Three ways to use it
humanize thisPaste text after it. You get the new version and a short list of what changed.
humanize --checkOnly points out what reads as AI. Changes nothing.
humanize <file>Claude Code and Codex. Rewrites that file in place.
